Since Tyler, the Creator’s last album Flower Boy from 2017, we have gotten one-off projects. Today IGOR has officially dropped and so far it feels like the next stage in Tyler’s musical evolution. The project had been announced on Tyler, the Creator’s Twitter account earlier this month. Putting IGOR in context, the project is tender and pretty while centering around love.
Listen to the album Below.
Tyler has described the album saying “IGOR. THIS IS NOT BASTARD. THIS IS NOT GOBLIN. THIS IS NOT WOLF. THIS IS NOT CHERRY BOMB. THIS IS NOT FLOWER BOY. THIS IS IGOR.” “Don’t go into this expecting a rap album,” in a post before its release. “Don’t go into this expecting an album.” Read the full post below.
The album’s credits involve Kanye West, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Al Green, and Cullen Omori as co-writers on several songs. Kanye is featured on “Puppet,” which you may have missed the first round as he is uncredited for the song. Note: he is pretty good!
Tyler makes a Call Me By Your Name reference on “I Think,” with “And I wish you would call me by your name ’cause I’m sorry.” Tyler, the Creator has previously referenced Timothée Chalamet on “OKRA.”
